Printed Upholstery Fabric

The majority of our printed upholstery fabrics are suitable for light upholstery but we do have a few that are suitable for general upholstery. The specified use of each fabric can be found on the item specifics on each of our fabrics.

We sell both fire retardant fabrics and fabrics that are not fire retardant. Some fabrics, whilst being suitable for upholstery with regards to fabric weight, it may require treating to the relevant British Safety Standard if you are to use your chosen fabric to cover furniture or other items in the home. Alternatively you could use a flame retardant barrier cloth with your chosen fabric when doing upholstery. On each fabrics product description there will be details of whether it is fire retardant or not.

We always recommend that you dry clean our printed upholstery fabrics at a specialist dry cleaners.

All our printed upholstery fabrics are available both online and in store from our fabric warehouse in Northamptonshire.

About Printed Upholstery Fabrics

Printing is a process that is one of the last stages.  A fabric is woven and the fabric moves along a while drums of each colour and design are pressed down onto the cloth at regular repeats across and up the fabric (warp & weft direction).  Here are some fabrics that are used for printing on.

Cotton

Cotton is a soft fibre that grows around the seeds of the cotton plant, a shrub native to the tropical and subtropical regions of both the Old World and the New World. The fibre is most often spun into thread and used to make a soft, breathable textile.

Linen

Linen is a material made from the fibres of the flax plant. Linen produced in Ireland is called Irish linen. lighter weigh linens are used for fabric household goods, such as pillowcases and towels.

Muslin

Muslin is a type of finely-woven cotton fabric, introduced to Europe from the Middle East in the 17th century. It was named for the city where it was first made, Mosul in what is now Iraq.
