Damask has a lustrous background and a raised design. These raised designs or patterns can be geometric,
Jacquard is the same as a damask, sometimes a fabric is given this name because they used to be woven on a jacquard loom. The Jacquard loom was the first machine to use punched cards. It uses punched cards to control the pattern being woven. It is a form of dobby loom, where individual harnesses can be raised and lowered independently.
