Pantone Colour Of The Year 2018

What is Pantone Colour Of The Year?

Since the year 2000 Pantone has announced a colour of the year that reflects the current cultural climate.  Pantone colour of the year is a symbolic colour selection; a colour snapshot of what Pantone sees taking place in our global culture that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude.

For 2018, Pantone have announced their colour of the year is Ultra Violet which they describe as “a dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade”.  According to Pantone, it alludes to the mysteries of the cosmos and the unknown.  This colour reflects what we require this year and is in line with the need for innovation, imagination and exploration at a higher level.

Historically we have seen the Pantone colour of the year influencing trends in all areas of design including fashion, interior design, architecture, food and more.  This year we predict Ultra Violet to be appearing in multiple channels and have already seen it has been woven into large universal companies branding.

We are super excited to see a plethora of curtain fabrics and upholstery fabrics infused with Ultra Violet over the next year.
